Review of the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3: Most smartwatch functions at a far lower cost

Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Intro

A few years ago, fitness bands were very popular. However, these days, smartwatches are becoming more and more commonplace, and fitness bands are becoming less and less common.

That’s for a number of reasons, one of which is strictly financial. The market for fitness bands is rapidly contracting because companies can profit more from more expensive smartwatches than from less expensive fitness bands, which have narrower profit margins.

This brand-new Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 is evidence of the decline in fitness band use.

It’s a new fitness band, and an interesting one at that, but it won’t be available for purchase in the US, the UK, or many other European nations according to Samsung. Though there isn’t an official explanation, it makes sense to assume that smartwatches are the main focus right now.

However, are people passing up something beneficial? After utilizing the Galaxy Fit 3 for a few days, I’ve had some ideas. Discover what’s new with the Galaxy Fit 3 and whether Samsung has been hiding this reasonably priced fitness tracker from many of its markets by reading on.

Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Design, Sizes and Bands

The Galaxy Fit 3 has a sleek appearance and is lightweight. It’s a little device as well, but because of its wide rectangle shape, we find that it fits almost everyone. It would look excellent on wrist sizes ranging from small to large.

Three color choices are available from Samsung: a black body with a black sporty band, a silver one with a white band, and a gold one with a champagne color band (we reviewed the silver one).

The strap is a standard sports loop band that feels really lovely and silky to the touch. It is also incredibly comfy. It switches bands using a straightforward proprietary mechanism that only requires pressing a button to release the band and snapping it back on. Easy and pleasant.

The Fit 3’s screen is larger than the typical fitness band at 1.6″ (4cm), making it much simpler to see notifications. It’s also an AMOLED screen with stunning colors that looks amazing, especially if you choose a black watch face. A brighter watch face will draw attention to the large bezel surrounding it, detracting slightly from its aesthetic attractiveness.

Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Software & Features

I encountered a significant problem while configuring the Galaxy Fit 3. Samsung claims that it works with iPhones and Android phones, however I was unable to pair it with an iPhone. The Galaxy Fit iOS app does not yet appear to have the Galaxy Fit 3 officially listed. Although it makes sense to anticipate an app upgrade shortly, this is really annoying.

However, there were no problems when connecting the Galaxy Fit 3 to an Android phone.

There is just one button on the side for navigation. To return to your watch face, press it once; to begin an exercise, press it twice; and to turn off the band or view details about your health.

On the touchscreen, swipes and taps are used for everything else. I was pleased to notice that there is no lag or stutter even though this is a low-cost device. Everything seems crisp and pleasant!

Exercises

The Galaxy Fit 3 has no GPS, which is the first thing you should be aware of while using it for exercise. It can pair with your phone’s GPS using Bluetooth, but good luck if you’re not the kind to carry your phone with you when you go for a run! Although that is a significant drawback, a lot of competing fitness bands also omit GPS data.

The fact that there are over 100 supported workouts is a plus!

To give you a sense of how your workout data appears in the Samsung Health app, here is a brief run summary:

Health and Sleep

If you’ve used a Samsung watch recently, you’re aware of its entertaining twist. The watch comes with Samsung’s sleep tracking functionality. Your fitness band will assign you a “sleep animal” after you wear it for a few evenings. These creatures are eight in number, and the following is what each one signifies:

  • For individuals who sleep longer than the suggested eight hours, there is Unconcerned Lion.
Sensitive Hedgehog compares you to a hedgehog that is active at night and frequently rests during the day.
A light sleeper who has problems falling back asleep after awakening is described by Nervous Penguin.
  • For those who would prefer to sleep during the day and be active at night, there is Sun Averse Mole.
The cautious deer is for someone who has had sleep disruptions.
A laid-back walrus is someone that can stay awake for longer than most people, yet they can also easily sleep for longer than eight hours at a time.
For those who must remain vigilant while sleeping, such as night shift workers, Alligator on the Hunt is the app.
That individual who is clearly sleeping is called an exhausted shark. deficiency and that, because to job or other factors, are unable to make up lost sleep.

While those kinds don’t appear to have any scientific support, they are an entertaining extra that adds to the excitement of sleep tracking. Of course, you may also explore data on the precise time and stages of your sleep.

Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Battery and Charging

With a 208mAh battery, the Fit 3 has a battery life of many days, despite being around two thirds the size of an Apple Watch Series 9 due to its straightforward operating system and lack of additional GPS load.

Samsung claims that a single charge will last up to 13 days, but if you use it constantly and turn on the screen all the time, you’ll probably only get around four days out of it.

The included proprietary Samsung 2-pin cable, which also features magnets to make it simpler to lock into place, is used for charging.

Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Summary and Final Verdict

What is the Galaxy Fit 3’s verdict, and is it something you should purchase?

The Galaxy Fit 3 is probably what you’ll love if you’re looking for a simple fitness tracker with notifications and appreciate something stylish and long-lasting but may not be the most precise workout tracker.

While there are numerous less expensive solutions available, such as Xiaomi’s Mi Band series, the Galaxy offers the advantage of a somewhat more sophisticated user interface and slightly more attractive appearance, even though those options still function well. A few more expensive ones, like as the Fitbit Charge 6, have GPS as well, yet even in that case, the signal is not very dependable. Ultimately, the Galaxy Fit 3 is in a good position within the market.

Additionally, you will need to spend a lot more money and may want to switch to a full-featured smartwatch like the fantastic $250 Garmin Forerunner 165 if you want a truly precise exercise partner with GPS.
